Update – Its a GO! Trip to Hong Kong

Thank you so much for your support and prayers.

We have received the final paperwork - Praise God!!!!

We will go do the last part, a health test, tomorrow and then I will plan and make my trip down to Hong Kong.

Please pray that God will lead us and help me find the best tickets to get down there and back. Also pray that He will make everything go smoothly in Hong Kong.

Also please pray that God will provide the finances for this trip.

This is really an amazing door that God has opened and we believe it will enable me to only renew my visa every year and not have to travel to Hong Kong every year and all these things.

We are also planning to have Chinese Wedding on 1 July and please know you will all be in our heart on this day. Pray that this wedding will also be a testimony to all the unbelieving friends and family members attending.

Urgent Trip to Hong Kong – Supporters

t has been a few months since our last email, but what a wonderful, busy and blessed few months it has been.

Need Break, we have a need and would like to ask for your prayers but also financial support in making this possible.

I need to make and Urgent trip to Hong Kong in the next month.
- The trip will cost about R2500 (About $380)
- We will need to apply for all the paperwork (Please Pray for this)
- Travel to Hong Kong
- Apply for the new Visa (With the paperwork)
- Travel Back

God has opened a door for us in getting a new Business Visa for myself for the next year. This visa will allow me to not only live and work in China for the next year but also allow me to simply renew this VISA every year, not having to make trips to Hong Kong.

So this is how it all happened…

After two weeks in China, praying and searching we got our answer! We were moving to a new town, the capital city of Ningxia. (The Muslim province of China)

We were to join a team of 4 others focussing full time on reaching the Muslims of China. Our team consisting of an American Couple, a Chinese Couple and Myself and Jennie (half Chinese, half South African as we like to say) With monthly funding for all of us from the US! Praise God!!

Our first month was spent getting a new house decorated for our American friends (still in the US for a visit) as we were taking over their old house, something that turned into a huge project. Laying tiles, installing bathrooms, painting walls and moving all their furniture from another town 18hours away! But by God`s grace we had everything ready the day they arrived.

After 2 months in China we finally had the time (and house) to settle in! Praise God!

Since then we have spent most of our time in fellowship, working on different ways to reach the Muslims and just getting to know each other. Jennie has since also found a small teaching Job!

Please continue to pray for us, our Marriage, our Ministry and my trip to Hong Kong!

Dedicated Support Group – New Beginnings

Dedicated Support Group – New Beginnings

We  (David and Jennie) are looking at setting up a more personal and dedicated group of supporters, both prayer and financial. We know that many of you read and enjoy our emails but we feel that we need to set up a more personal group of supporters. We hope and pray that you will be encouraged to continue supporting us…and let us know in what way you feel lead to support us.

It has been two years since I (David) packed my little bag and moved to China, and what a blessed, eventful time it had been.

From staying with a fellow brother in Christ and worker in China, to eventually getting a part time job. Finally get a Work Permit after more than a years, getting engaged and married. It has truly been a challenging but rewarding time, highlighted by God`s guidance and provision.

Up until now we (Myself and my wife Jennie) have lived in the capital city of a province in China. As English teachers, working for a large private English school in the City, we spent our weekends teaching and the rest of our time evangelizing and discipling friends, colleagues or just anyone God would send over our path. I also focused on the distribution of Bibles and Christian literature in and around the province. But have since stopped being involved in this due to the security risk involved. (Especially for Jennie as she is a Chinese Citizen)

The area we worked in is seen as a very difficuly area in China to work in as it not only contains Tibetan Buddhists but also a large amount of Chinese Muslims. This (The Muslims) is then also the area I believe God is leading us to work in in the future.

In the last week, I have heard that pressure has been placed on our school by the Chinese Government to make sure everything is in “check”. The school has since let me know that they will not be able to renew my contract, on my return to China, with the only reason being that the government felt it was not appropriate for me to teach in China.

This came as a great surprise to myself and a fellow American worker who has also lost his job at the school in this time, with both of us now not only without our main source of income but also without our source of a Visa to live in China.

We (Myself and Jennie) however KNOW that God will guide and provide for us. We will still be returning to China in April and we are looking at the option of Myself studying towards a BA in Chinese or even opening our own company. Both of which would provide us with the necessary Visa and Work Permits to live in China. We are also planning to join a team working specifically with the Muslims in China which would provide us with some much needed fellowship and leadership in all areas of our Christian walk.

We trust and know that God will guide us in making the right decisions and provide in all our needs, and ask that you would also pray for us in this way.

Please let us know if you would be able and willing to support us in a more dedicated way. Also let us know if it would be financially or prayer based as this would help us set up the appropriate groups so we can keep you updated on our financial or prayer needs.
